JOB TITLE: Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Logistics Manager

LOCATION: Carlsbad, CA

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

The Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator will purchase goods and services according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures and develop and manage vendor relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.
  • Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
  • Works with vendors to build relationships and negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
  • Establishes relationships with adjacent departments and works collaboratively to manage timelines and deliverables
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
  • Responsible for a quarterly analytics report on inventory forecasting and inventory profitability by the vendor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Must be good with numbers and value the benefits of using analytics for decision making
  • Good with Excel
  • Comfortable owning and developing a format for quarterly analytic reports
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field is highly preferred.
  • At least two years of purchasing experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
  • May require travel.
